AfCFTA Secretariat Conducts Technical Visit to Alaro City SEZ to Advance Compliance and Trade Opportunities

Lagos, Nigeria, 11 March 2026 – The AfCFTA Secretariat undertook a technical visit on 10 March 2026 to Alaro City, located within the Lekki Free Zone in Lagos and developed by Rendeavour in partnership with the Lagos State Government.

The visit aimed to assess the compliance of the Alaro City Special Economic Zone (SEZ) with the AfCFTA Agreement and to explore opportunities for collaboration with the Secretariat. Rendeavour operates a network of special economic zones across multiple African countries, producing a range of goods with potential for trade under the AfCFTA framework.

The AfCFTA Secretariat delegation, led by Mr. Mohamed Ali, Director of Trade in Goods and Competition, visited companies established within Alaro City to better understand their business models and to provide guidance on trading under the AfCFTA framework.

The delegation also visited the Lekki Deep Sea Port, located in the Lagos Free Trade Zone, which provides direct access to West African markets, highlighting its strategic role in facilitating regional trade and logistics under the AfCFTA.
