Accra, Ghana, 16 December 2025 – The African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat received a delegation of members of the AfCFTA National Implementation Committee (NIC) of the Republic of Rwanda on a peer-learning and benchmarking visit to Ghana.
The visit aimed to facilitate the exchange of practical experiences on national AfCFTA implementation, with a focus on governance and coordination models, the functions of the AfCFTA Secretariat, stakeholder engagement, monitoring and evaluation, and private-sector participation, in support of Rwanda’s implementation efforts.
The delegation comprised representatives from the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MINICOM), which serves as the NIC Secretariat, as well as customs and trade facilitation institutions, investment and export promotion agencies, private-sector actors, and companies currently trading under the AfCFTA. Participants engaged in technical sessions covering lessons from other State Parties, Rules of Origin, the management of Non-Tariff Barriers, customs administration under the AfCFTA, and the role of NICs and AfCFTA trading companies in advancing implementation.
National Implementation Committees remain central to the effective implementation of the AfCFTA at the national level. The AfCFTA Secretariat welcomes continued engagement and collaboration with NICs to support coordinated, inclusive, and results-oriented implementation across State Parties.
