AfCFTA Secretariat Engages Pan-African Parliament Committee on Advancing Implementation 

Accra, Ghana, 31 October 2025. The AfCFTA Secretariat met with members of the Pan-African Parliament Committee on Trade, Customs and Immigration Matters to review progress in the implementation of the AfCFTA Agreement and discuss strategies to accelerate its next phases.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the Secretariat to update the Committee on key milestones achieved in establishing a liberalised market for goods and services through negotiations among State Parties. The Secretariat also outlined ongoing initiatives aimed at facilitating capital movement, promoting investment, and advancing the creation of a Continental Customs Union.

Discussions further highlighted the Secretariat’s work in supporting industrial development, strengthening regional value chains, and enhancing agricultural productivity to promote food security and sustainable growth across Africa.

The AfCFTA Secretariat underscored the importance of continued collaboration with the Pan-African Parliament to advance the ratification of key AfCFTA Protocols and ensure that State Parties allocate the necessary resources for effective implementation.

Members of the Pan-African Parliament commended the Secretariat for its progress in operationalising the AfCFTA despite a challenging global environment, reaffirming their support for the Secretariat’s efforts to create a single continental market that enhances Africa’s competitiveness and collective voice in global trade.
