Accra, Ghana, 4 August 2025-H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, held a strategic engagement in Accra on 4 August 2025 with Ms. Catherine Koffman, the Green Climate Fund’s (GCF) Regional Director for Africa. The meeting reaffirmed the GCF’s support for Africa’s green industrialisation priorities, with a shared commitment to advancing the Africa Green Industrialisation Initiative (AGII) under the AfCFTA framework.

The discussions focused on unlocking early-stage financing for climate-aligned industrial projects and enhancing technical assistance for project preparation, particularly in sectors where private capital remains limited. The Secretary-General welcomed GCF’s continued collaboration and underscored the importance of accelerating investment readiness across the continent to deliver on the objectives of the AfCFTA Protocol on Investment.
