Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, 9 July 2025 – On the sidelines of the African Union Mid-Year Review Meeting in Malabo, the AfCFTA Secretariat convened a high-level coordination meeting with Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and Business Councils to strengthen alignment on the legal and institutional frameworks shaping Africa’s single market.
This strategic gathering brought together senior officials from RECs and regional business platforms to foster deeper collaboration with the AfCFTA. Discussions focused on harmonising implementation approaches, promoting a conducive environment for private sector engagement, and mobilising technical and financial partnerships in support of the AfCFTA’s objectives.
The meeting reaffirmed the foundational role of RECs as the building blocks of Africa’s integration and underscored their importance in ensuring the effective and coherent implementation of the AfCFTA across the Continent.
