Luanda, Angola, 23 June 2025 – On the smargins of the U.S.–Africa Business Summit, H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Yacine Mahmoud Ali, Chairperson of the African Union.

Their discussions focused on recent shifts in the multilateral trade landscape, including changes to preferential trade programmes and their implications for African Union Member States. The meeting reaffirmed the importance of coordinated continental responses to evolving global trade dynamics under the AfCFTA framework.
