Accra, Ghana – 9 December 2024: H.E. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, former Deputy President of South Africa, today paid a courtesy call on H.E. Wamkele Mene, the Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, at the Secretariat’s headquarters in Accra.
The two leaders discussed the economic integration of the African continent and the vital role of the AfCFTA in facilitating this transformation. H.E. Mene outlined the Secretariat’s efforts to implement the AfCFTA Agreement, which is designed to enhance intra-African trade, foster inclusive economic growth, and strengthen regional cooperation.
H.E. Mlambo-Ngcuka, in Ghana as a member of the African Union’s observation mission for last Saturday’s successful general elections, underscored the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving sustainable development and resilience across the continent.
The meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to advancing Africa’s integration agenda and realising the vision of a prosperous and united continent.
