Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 14 February 2026 – The African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat and Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the margins of the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union Heads of State and Government.
The MoU was signed by H.E Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, and Ms Alice Ruhweza, President of AGRA. The agreement reinforces existing cooperation between the two institutions and seeks to translate the AfCFTA legal framework into value-creating outcomes for small-scale farmers, informal traders, women, and youth, while strengthening resilient agricultural value chains across Africa.
The partnership is anchored in the AfCFTA Agri-Trade Action Plan, which aims to increase intra-African trade, remove barriers, and promote investment in value-added agricultural trade and agro-industrialisation. Through this collaboration, the two institutions will support improved food security, the creation of decent jobs, and the development of sustainable and competitive African food systems through trade.
