Marrakech, Morocco, 12 December 2025 – On the margins of the 2nd AfCFTA Business Forum in Marrakech, H.E. Wamkele Mene met with Mr Ahmed Bennis, Secretary-General of the African Economic Zones Organisation(AEZO).
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the AfCFTA Secretariat and AEZO, including the conclusion of a Memorandum of Understanding to formalise cooperation between the two institutions. The engagement also explored avenues for AfCFTA Secretariat technical support towards the convening of the next edition of the AfCFTA Business Forum.
In addition, discussions addressed AEZO’s participation in the next edition of Biashara Afrika, recognising the important role of economic zones in advancing industrialisation, value chain development, and the effective implementation of the AfCFTA.
