AfCFTA Accelerates Implementation Amid Global Trade Uncertainty at 2nd Business Forum in Marrakech

Marrakech, Morocco, 11 December 2025 – The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat concluded the second edition of the AfCFTA Business Forum in Marrakech, Morocco, with a strategic call to accelerate implementation in response to evolving global trade dynamics and increasing tariffs in major export markets.

H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, underscored at the opening ceremony the imperative to eliminate intra-African trade barriers, modernise customs systems, liberalise the movement of persons and services, and fully capitalise on Africa’s $712 billion digital economy opportunity.

He affirmed that through enhanced integration, strategic investment, and public-private partnerships, Africa can harness its demographic dividend and advance sustainable growth.
