AfCFTA Secretary-General Reaffirms AfCFTA as Africa’s Framework for Structural Transformation

Dakar, Senegal, 7 October 2025 – At the Invest in Senegal Forum, H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, reaffirmed the AfCFTA as Africa’s strategic framework for structural transformation, industrialisation, and value chain development.

He underscored the need to build a strong domestic market, strengthen digital infrastructure, promote the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) to reduce transaction costs, and support SMEs, women, and youth in expanding regional value chains while addressing the trade finance gap.
