Cairo, Egypt, 25 October 2025. H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, participated in Afreximbank’s farewell ceremony for Prof. Benedict Oramah and the investiture of President-designate Dr. George Elombi.

He commended Prof. Oramah’s longstanding partnership with the AfCFTA Secretariat in advancing programmes that empower SMEs, youth, and the creative sector. H.E. Mene also highlighted transformative initiatives such as the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), the AfCFTA Adjustment Fund, and the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) as pillars reshaping intra-African trade.

He paid tribute to Prof. Oramah as a visionary leader whose legacy has strengthened confidence in Africa’s ability to design and deliver its own solutions.
