Nairobi, Kenya, 9 October 2025 – H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, participated in the 24th Summit of the COMESA Authority of Heads of State and Government held in Nairobi, Kenya.
In his statement, H.E. Mene commended COMESA for taking bold steps to embrace digitisation as a catalyst for growth and integration. He noted that the AfCFTA has transitioned from negotiation to implementation, with digitalisation at its core. He further highlighted that Africa’s digital economy, currently valued at USD 180 billion, is projected to reach USD 712 billion by 2050.
