Freetown, Sierra Leone, 13 October 2025 – H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, met with H.E. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

H.E. Mene commended President Bio for the country’s strong commitment to implementing the AfCFTA, noting that Sierra Leone was the first country to conduct a national readiness assessment study. President Bio, in turn, expressed appreciation for the Secretary-General’s leadership in driving the effective implementation of the Agreement thus far, and assured him of Sierra Leone’s continued support in advancing its objectives.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both parties to accelerate the implementation of the AfCFTA.
