AfCFTA Secretary-General Meets President Julius Maada Bio to Discuss Implementation Progress 

Freetown, Sierra Leone, 14 October 2025. H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, met with H.E. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

H.E. Mene commended President Bio for the country’s strong commitment to implementing the AfCFTA, noting that Sierra Leone was the first African Union Member State to conduct a national readiness assessment study. President Bio, in turn, expressed appreciation for the Secretary-General’s leadership in driving the effective implementation of the Agreement and reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s continued support in advancing its objectives.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both parties to accelerating AfCFTA implementation and strengthening Africa’s collective efforts towards sustainable economic transformation.
