Nairobi, Kenya, 8 July 2025 – The AfCFTA Secretariat opened the Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA) Workshop in Nairobi, Kenya, a significant step towards eliminating technical barriers to trade under the AfCFTA framework.
The workshop brings together National Quality Infrastructure Institutions, Regulatory Authorities, private sector stakeholders, and State Parties to advance the mutual recognition of conformity assessment results. Through knowledge sharing, dialogue on regulatory and technical issues, and lessons drawn from global best practices, the workshop aims to chart a clear path towards the implementation of the AfCFTA’s Mutual Recognition Arrangement.
This effort is central to fostering trust, regulatory alignment, and greater market access across the Continent, thereby supporting the seamless movement of goods and services under the AfCFTA.
