Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, 13 May 2025- On the margins of the Africa CEO Forum (ACF), the Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, H.E. Wamkele Mene, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Mahamadou Issoufou, former President of the Republic of Niger and African Union Champion of the AfCFTA.
During the meeting, the Secretary-General briefed the Champion on recent developments in the implementation of the AfCFTA, with particular emphasis on the outcomes of the AfCFTA Digital Trade Forum held in Lusaka, Zambia.
The two leaders also exchanged views on the importance of fast-tracking the implementation of Agenda 2063 flagship initiatives, specifically in the areas of infrastructure, energy, peace and security, value chain development and industrialisation. These areas remain essential for unlocking the full potential of the AfCFTA.
H.E. Mene expressed appreciation for the continued leadership of H.E. Issoufou in championing Africa’s economic integration and reaffirmed the Secretariat’s commitment to advancing the vision of a single African market.
