Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 9 November 2024: On the margins of the AfCFTA Council of Ministers Meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, H.E. Wamkele Mene, engaged with Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Minister Oduwole, newly appointed to her position, reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the full implementation of the AfCFTA, with a particular focus on advancing digital trade to drive regional integration and economic growth.

H.E. Mene outlined the Secretariat’s ongoing collaborative efforts with Nigeria’s public and private sectors, particularly in trade facilitation, highlighting the importance of an efficient certificate of origin issuance process for goods traded under the AfCFTA framework.
