New York, United States, 25th September 2024 — On the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, the Secretary General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, H.E. Wamkele Mene, participated in the inaugural meeting of the Steering Committee of the Africa Green Industrialisation Initiative (AGII). The meeting was chaired by the President of Kenya, H.E. William Ruto.

Members of the Steering Committee shared their thoughts on the initiative’s vision, exchanging insights and lessons learned, while outlining their expectations regarding the scope and approach of the AGII as the continent moves towards a green industrialisation agenda.
