Institutional Framework
Though the AfCFTA is governed by the Member States of the African Union, The Assembly of Heads of States, Council of Ministers, Committee of Senior Trade Officials, and the Secretariat constitute the institutional framework that implement, administrate, facilitate, monitor, and evaluate the AfCFTA.
The Assembly

The Assembly of Heads of State is the highest decision-making organ of the AU and provides oversight and strategic guidance on the AfCFTA.

Council of Ministers

The Council of Ministers is composed of the Ministers responsible for trade and officials designated by the State Parties.

The Secretariat

The Secretariat is the administrative organ mandated to coordinate the implementation of the AfCFTA.
