AfCFTA Secretary-General Engages Seychelles Private Sector to Expand Market Opportunities

Victoria, Seychelles, 5 March 2026 – H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), held a meeting with Mr. Oliver Bastienne, Chairman of the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to discuss how Seychelles businesses can benefit from opportunities under the AfCFTA.

The engagement acknowledged the important role of the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry in supporting private sector participation in continental trade.

Discussions highlighted how the AfCFTA can create new opportunities for Seychellois businesses to access African markets, build regional partnerships, and diversify export destinations.

The meeting also explored the constraints faced by Seychelles businesses when trading with African markets, identified sectors where Seychelles companies can be competitive across the continent, and discussed opportunities to strengthen business-to-business partnerships with African firms.
