Victoria, Seychelles, 5 March 2026 – H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), held a technical meeting with Hon. Pierre Laporte, Minister for Finance, Economic Planning, Trade and Investment of Seychelles, together with their respective teams.

The discussions provided a detailed exchange on avenues for concrete collaboration to support Seychelles’ export diversification and regional integration efforts under the AfCFTA. Particular focus was placed on opportunities arising from the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol, including the expansion of digital services.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation to ensure Seychelles can effectively leverage AfCFTA instruments to enhance competitiveness and expand its presence in African markets
