AfCFTA Secretary-General Delivers Keynote at African Oil Week Energy 2025

18 September, Accra, Ghana – H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, delivered a keynote address at African Oil Week Energy 2025. He noted that Africa holds 7 per cent of proven oil reserves, along with vast deposits of uranium, cobalt, graphite and rare earth minerals, resources that can underpin the continent’s energy security and long-term sustainability.

The Secretary-General urged investors to support Africa’s Green Industrialisation Initiative, highlighting the opportunities for sustainable growth and industrial transformation across the continent.
