Accra, Ghana, 18 March 2024 – H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, hosted Ms. Anna Joubin-Bret, Secretary of UNCITRAL; H.E. Mrs. Matilda Aku Alomatu Osei-Agyeman, Permanent Representative to the Vienna Mission; and Mr. Shane Spelicy, Chair of UNCITRAL Working Group III, for bilateral discussions.
The meeting focused on the AfCFTA Protocol on Investment, supporting the implementation of the AfCFTA, and strengthening mechanisms for the adjudication of investment disputes in Africa.
This engagement underscored the shared commitment of both institutions to promoting legal certainty, enhancing investor confidence, and fostering sustainable economic development through effective legal frameworks across the continent.
