Accra, Ghana, 1 February 2025 – On the margins of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025, AfCFTA Secretary-General, H.E. Wamkele Mene, met with the President of the Union of Comoros, H.E. Azali Assoumani, to discuss Africa’s economic integration agenda and reflect on the progress made under the African Union’s leadership in 2023.

H.E. Mene took the opportunity to extend his appreciation to President Assoumani for his distinguished leadership as Chairperson of the African Union in 2023, particularly in advancing the AU’s theme for the year, “Accelerating the Implementation of the AfCFTA.” He commended the President’s unwavering commitment to championing the AfCFTA agenda, noting that his stewardship has left a lasting and meaningful impact on Africa’s economic transformation.

The discussion also provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on sustaining momentum in the implementation of the AfCFTA, reinforcing regional trade cooperation, and advancing Africa’s collective vision for economic integration.
