Johannesburg, South Africa, 20 February – H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, addressed the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, commending South Africa’s G20 presidency and its focus on inclusive growth.
In his remarks, H.E. Mene highlighted key global challenges, including protectionism, food insecurity, and climate change, and emphasised the role of the AfCFTA in driving industrial development across the continent. He further outlined the Africa Green Industrialisation Initiative, which aims to advance green trade and investment, positioning Africa as a leader in sustainable economic transformation.
The engagement reaffirmed the AfCFTA Secretariat’s commitment to leveraging trade and industrial policy to address pressing global economic challenges while ensuring that Africa’s integration into the global economy is both sustainable and inclusive.
