Accra, Ghana – 6 January 2025: H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his last day in office as President of the Republic of Ghana.

The visit was an opportunity to express heartfelt appreciation to H.E. Akufo-Addo for his unwavering support of the Secretariat since its establishment in Ghana in August 2020. Discussions centred on the establishment of the Secretariat, progress in AfCFTA implementation, the integration of Ghana’s National Service Scheme into the AfCFTA Secretariat, and Ghana’s commitments to the AfCFTA.

H.E. Akufo-Addo acknowledged the appreciation and reiterated his steadfast commitment to the AfCFTA, even as he transitions to the role of former President of the Republic of Ghana.
