Lomé, Togo – 19 December 2024: The AfCFTA stakeholder engagement forum on transport services concluded today in Lomé, Togo, after three days of productive discussions and collaboration among delegations from across the continent. The forum focused on developing a Draft Regulatory Framework for Transport Services, with the aim of enhancing transport accessibility, efficiency, harmonisation, and the synergy of infrastructure in Africa.
Delegations deliberated on creating a platform to facilitate cross-border trade, reduce bureaucratic barriers, and ensure seamless connectivity and movement of goods and services among AfCFTA State Parties. These efforts are expected to significantly contribute to the growth of businesses and the strengthening of Africa’s trade networks.
The forum brought together diverse perspectives and fostered meaningful dialogue to ensure the Draft Regulatory Framework reflects the needs and aspirations of stakeholders across the continent. The conclusions reached during the engagement will inform the finalisation of the regulatory framework, which will be instrumental in advancing the goals of the AfCFTA.
This milestone underscores the AfCFTA’s commitment to building integrated, efficient, and sustainable transport systems that drive economic growth and foster deeper continental integration.
