Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 8 November 2024 – H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, met with H.E. Hu Changchun, Head of Mission of China to the African Union (AU), in Addis Ababa to discuss ongoing collaboration between China and the African Union. The meeting underscored the commitment of both parties to strengthening their developmental partnership within the AU framework.

Building on the 2021 Memorandum of Understanding, both sides reaffirmed their dedication to accelerating progress across key areas of mutual interest. This includes enhanced cooperation in customs, trade and investment facilitation, and efforts to expand awareness of the AfCFTA within China.

The AfCFTA Secretariat looks forward to China’s active engagement in services, infrastructure, and support for the Adjustment Fund, reinforcing the shared goal of fostering sustainable growth and economic development across the African continent.
