Announcement: Appointment of New Chief of Staff of the AfCFTA Secretariat

The AfCFTA Secretariat is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Rui Pedro Afonso Livramento as its new Chief of Staff. Mr. Livramento brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously served as Angola’s Chief Trade Negotiator. In this role, he was instrumental in advancing Angola’s trade policy and engagement in the AfCFTA negotiations.

Mr. Livramento’s career includes significant contributions as Angola’s delegate to key international organisations such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the International Trade Centre (ITC). His experience in the role of national Director of Trade, navigating complex multilateral trade negotiations has equipped him with a deep understanding of the global frameworks influencing African trade policies.

His leadership and expertise will be pivotal as the AfCFTA continues to advance its objectives of fostering economic integration and creating One African Market. Mr. Livramento’s commitment to enhancing the economic prospects of the continent aligns with the vision of the AfCFTA and Agenda 2063.
