The AfCFTA is a game changer for the people of Africa, but none more so than its youth. The Agreement represents an unprecedented opportunity, and it’s our continent’s youth who stand as its custodians. As we navigate the next 40 years towards Agenda 2063, it is the creativity, resilience, and visionary leadership of our youth that will steer the ship.
It is for this reason that the AfCFTA Secretariat, in partnership with the Government of Zambia, will be hosting the inaugural AfCFTA Youth Symposium (AYS), scheduled to take place in the heart of Africa, Lusaka, Zambia, from 19th to 21st July 2023. Mark your calendars and save the date for this important event which seeks to shape the protocol for Women and Youth in the AfCFTA.
The symposium, carefully designed around the theme: “Igniting the Future for Youth in Trade” is a rallying cry for young people across our beautiful continent to seize the future that is rightfully theirs.
This event is perfectly in line with the AU theme of the year which is Äccelerating of AfCFTA implementation”. Whether you’re a budding entrepreneur, a student, a young African in diaspora, or a policymaker, who is passionate about Africa’s future, this year’s themewhich is reflected in the Symposium, is a reason to be excited and optimistic.
The bright young minds of our continent hold the key towards achieving the aspirations enshrined in the Agenda 2063. Their voices, ideas, and actions will shape the Africa We Want!
The event programme which is tailored to the youth, promises to be interactive and engaging, with sessions covering the most relevant topics pertaining to the young people of the continent. The event will also feature exhibitions, competitions and debates to create more platforms for youth to engage with each other and with the policy makers on the continent to advance youth in trade.
