The Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), H.E. Wamkele Mene, participated in a High-Level Dialogue on “Powering Africa’s Industrialisation: Africa’s Gas Resources in Action” during the Infra for Africa Forum in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania, on 5 August 2026.

The dialogue brought together Ministers responsible for Energy from Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal and Tanzania to discuss the strategic role of Africa’s gas resources in advancing industrialisation across the continent.

Convened by Africa50, the infrastructure investment platform established by African states and the African Development Bank Group, the Forum marks Africa50’s tenth anniversary and reflects on a decade of infrastructure delivery and investment across Africa.

The Forum also brings together sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, insurance companies, development finance institutions, project developers and banking executives to explore opportunities for financing and accelerating critical infrastructure projects across the continent.

The participation of the AfCFTA Secretariat highlights the importance of aligning infrastructure development with continental trade integration, recognising that efficient energy systems and strategic infrastructure are essential to unlocking the full potential of the AfCFTA and advancing Africa’s industrial transformation.
