AfCFTA Secretariat Successfully Concludes AFIRM Expert Group Meeting in Senegal

Mbour, Senegal, 12 June 2026 – The AfCFTA Secretariat has successfully concluded an Expert Group Meeting under the AfCFTA Implementation Review Mechanism (AFIRM) on the assessment of Senegal’s implementation of its AfCFTA commitments in the area of Trade in Goods.

The four-day exercise brought together thematic experts from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, representatives of the private sector, relevant national institutions and the AfCFTA Secretariat to review the draft assessment report and provide technical inputs to the Trade in Goods implementation matrix.

Conducted under the AfCFTA Implementation Review Mechanism (AFIRM), the assessment supports State Parties in evaluating progress, identifying implementation gaps and strengthening the effective implementation of their AfCFTA commitments.

The meeting enhanced the quality, accuracy and analytical rigour of the assessment findings and recommendations, paving the way for the forthcoming national validation workshop.

The successful conclusion of the exercise reflects the continued commitment of Senegal and the AfCFTA Secretariat to advancing the implementation of the AfCFTA and ensuring that the benefits of Africa’s single market translate into tangible opportunities for businesses, traders and producers across the continent.
